In game 1, the Crusaders struggled to find a defensive rhythm on the court at Brookings-Harbor. Behind Grace Johnson’s 3 kills and Hallie Shean’s defensive passing, the team eeked out a win for game 1. In game 2, the Bruins came out strong with tough serving and hitting from the outside. The Bruins were up 20-10 when the Crusaders made a massive comeback behind senior Katie Rietmann. Rietmann finally found her timing on the block, igniting the rest of the team. Freshman Jessi Traynor went in to serve on the Bruins game point, 21-24. Traynor served the team to point 25 before a passing error caused the wideout. The final point for game 2 was earned by a shanked ball by the Bruins. In game 3, the Crusaders maintained their momentum to finish the match.
Grace Johnson and Katie Rietmann each earned 7 kills for the match. Rietmann posted 10 blocks while Abbie Christman added 5. Christman went 20 for 21 with 4 aces from behind the serve line. Hallie Shean added 4 kills and went 9 for 10 from behind the serve line. Lauren Russo added 2 kills fromthe front row. Ashley Gurr posted 16 assists for the match.
