In the championship game of the Phoenix Tournament, the St. Mary’s girls basketball team beat Tillamook 47-33 behind balanced scoring and strong post defense. Only leading by two to start the second half, the Crusaders went on an 18-7 run to give them some breathing room. Behind a well balanced offensive attack, lead by Emma Bennion (17), Ibixica Alvarez (13) and Madi Andrews (10), and an outstanding defensive effort in the post by Emma Ward and Abbie Christman, the Crusaders were able to hold on in the fourth and come home with the victory. The win puts the girls at 4-0 on the season. They will next face a very strong Etna squad on Tuesday, December 11th at St. Mary’s 5:30 pm tip-off.
