After a slow start n the opening game of the Phoenix High School basketball tournament the St. Mary’s girls basketball team got rolling in the second quarter on their way to a 55-27 win over the Rogue River Chieftains. Leading only by 3 points at the end of the third the Crusaders went on a 16-0 run in the 2nd to put the game out of reach. Offensively, the Crusaders put 10 girls in the column, lead by Emma Bennion (10), Olivia LIppert (9), and Madi Andrews (8). The win put the girls in the Championship game at 4:00 vs. Tillamook.

ROGUE RIVER (27): Sizemore 4, Rangel 4, McKown 9, Langfield 2, Howard 2, Spaeth 6, Earnest 0, Drake 0, Hansen 0. Totals: 11 5-8 27.

ST. MARY’S (55): Young 4, Andrews 8, Alvarez 5, Bennion 10, Lippert 9, Rajagopal 5, Dunn 5, Christman 2, Rothfus 5, Ward 2, Conner 0 Totals: 25 1-2 55.
