We have just completed another great season for the St Mary’s Boys and Girls Bowling teams. With the exception of our inaugural season of four years ago all of our bowlers entered the program as beginners. Both boys and girls continue to build their skills and are becoming more confident and competitive each year. We had some great highlights for the season. The boys placed fifth in the Roseburg event, the highest finish in the history of the program. We missed the semi-final cut by 230 pins. This is spread over 24 Baker format games. To put this in perspective we needed only one more pin per frame to make the semis. Kristian Walker in only his third year of bowling rolled his first competitive 200, a 204 in the Roxy Ann event. On the girls side Grace Chan placed 5th in the Allstars competition of our association and received an award plaque. The all-stars is a cumulative competition of all 6 events. This is Grace’s third year and she also started as a beginner. A special distinction to Maddie Chun, she becomes the first of hopefully many more to come bowlers to earn a varsity letter four consecutive years, way to go Maddie. This is for both boys and girls. Coach Dan Z. and I are already looking forward to next season, we are only losing one senior, good luck Maddie, thank you. Finally Dan and I wish to the thank the parents who come out to support their bowlers and assist in score keeping and transportation. Every year seems to go a little smoother, next year will be our best yet.
