Crusaders News · St. Mary’s Swimmers perform well at All Rogue Valley Invite

On Saturday, January 5th the first big swim meet of the season, All Rogue Valley Invitational, was held at the Grants Pass YMCA.  This meet included 13 teams from all over southern Oregon and will be the biggest meet of the year for St. Mary’s.

All of St. Mary’s relays placed in the top 10, which is great for a meet this size and given the size of some of the schools we were competing with.

The girls were led by sophomore Ahnyka Lahmann, who placed 3rd in the 100 fly and 4th in the 200 IM.  Well done Ahnyka!

Freshman captain Asa Frisbee led the way for the boys winning the 500 free outright and taking 6th in the 100 free.  Congratulations, Asa!

For the girls, I want to recognize sophomore Lucy Gramley who put up a new PR in the 500 free, taking 5th overall and bettering her time from last year at Districts.  And for the boys, I have to say I was super impressed with the times Freshmen David Noble and Caleb Bingham posted at this meet — their first real meet ever.  Caleb and David are brand new to swimming and have come a very long way since starting with the team in November.  Caleb went 29.26 in the 50 free and David was 31.54.  Wow!
