Boys Varsity Lacrosse · Balanced Attack Gives Lacrosse 12-5 Win At Home

St. Mary’s – The St. Mary’s Lacrosse team took the field at home against visiting Winston Churchill High School and walked away with a solid 12-5 victory.  A balanced attack on offense and another stout defensive effort created 33 shots on goal, with six different scorers for the Crusaders while holding WCHS to only 20 shots.  In one of the better all around games of the season St. Mary’s controlled both sides of the field.  Not only out shooting the visitors, but also winning 11-3 on face-offs, and 30-20 on ground balls.

The scoring was anchored by juniors Garrett Arman (4) and Carlos Fuentes(3).  Other scorers included Alex Finch (2), Cade Thomas (1), Preston Jernigan(1), and one goal coming on an outstanding effort by defenseman Aidan Young, driving the length of the field after winning a ground ball and finding the back of the net.

The win puts the Crusaders at 5-1 for the season with 3 games remaining. The team will be home again next week in a rematch with West Salem High School at US Cellular Fields on Friday, April 28th with a 6:00 pm face-off.
