Ashland High School
Playing their second match in as many days, a somewhat tired Crusader Women’s Tennis squad faced an experienced and deep Ashland team. The highlight of the evening was clearly at the number two single spot, where Alicia Lu won her third match of the season by winning a third set tie-breaker. This was an important victory for Lu, who had convincing margins in her previous wins, because she proved she had the physical stamina and mental toughness to beat a strong opponent in a long, tough match. Another bright spot for St. Mary’s was Ashley Williams playing singles for the first time. While she did not notch a victory she fought hard in both sets and extended the match with many strong volleys. The team will not get a much deserved rest before returning to action in a week against conference foe Cascade in their only night match of the season.
