The St. Mary’s Lacrosse team went on the road to Roseburg and came home with a decisive 9-4 win. After struggling to find any kind of rhythm in the first half, the Crusaders hit their stride in the second half behind a stout defense. Ryan Pitcher had a great all-around game on the offensive end netting 4 goals on 4 shots, recorded one assist, and won 4 ground balls. Overall St. Mary’s had 9 goals on 14 shots with other scorers including Garrett Arman (2), Carlos Fuentes (1), and Cade Thomas (2). The Crusader’s also capitalized with a 15 – 8 edge in winning groundballs for the game.
Defensively, Daniel Wilhite and Evan Rudisile shared duties in goal and held Roseburg to 4 goals on 15 shots. Sophomore, Aidan Young, anchored the St. Mary’s defensive side and Gavin Glatte set the tone and fired up the team as he cleaned up a loose ball then drove the length of the field to take a shot on goal and was awarded the game ball for his efforts.
The Crusaders will be on the road again as they travel to Eugene on Sunday, April 9th to participate in a jamboree and then will see home action on Wednesday, April 12th, 4:00pm against Roseburg at US Cellular Fields.
