Game Recap

The Crusaders MS Football suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 13-16 on the road at White Mountain Wolves MS.
In a hard hitting physical game on a sloppy field, the Crusaders took an early 7-0 lead on a long TD run in the 1st quarter, and played solid defense the rest of the half to maintain that score into halftime. The Wolves scored to take the lead in early in the 3rd quarter. “We had a few boys go down with injury, but we had several boys step up and play the entire 2nd half without 3 starters. It was fantastic for me to see everyone raise the level of play.” according to HC Vu.
The Crusaders scored on the first play of the fourth to regain the lead 13-8 on a long pass from QB Beau Aldrich to WR Andrew Rietmann. The Wolves mounted a late scoring drive, getting a td run with under 2 minutes remaining. The Crusaders mounted a last minute drive that reached the Wolves 30 yard line.
“Our boys showed heart playing hard until the final gun. We had a lot of boys take huge strides in their development tonight, and that is what games like this bring out in kids. Sports is fantastic at presenting opportunities for kids find something deep inside them, winning and losing is absolutely secondary. Our boys were winners tonight because they had willpower to go beyond where they have been. White Mountain played a great game and played equally hard. I am so proud of the boys that stepped up to the challenge.”
