Game Recap

Tonight was the 4th annual Crusader Breast Cancer Awareness game against the visiting Honkers. The teams spent the prior days earning money to donate to the Providence Breast Cancer Center.
The Crusaders battled with the Lakeview Honkers in the second meeting of the league. In set 4, the Crusaders came from behind to win the set led by Ashley Gurr’s serving. Natalie Thickett put the game away serving the final 3 points, 2 of which were aces. In set 5, Thickett started the Crusaders off, serving the first three points. Susanna Schatz served points 6 through 11 to keep the momentum with the Crusaders.
As a team, the Crusaders earned a season high of 20 aces. Susanna Schatz and Hallie Shean each had 5 aces. Shean also led the team on the offensive front, racking up a total of 9 kills. Katie Rietmann added 6 kills, but led the team with 5 blocks to force the Honkers to tip around her. Gurr had 17 assists on the night. Shean and Lauren Russo led the team in passing with 5 digs apiece.
