Meet Recap

When St. Mary’s Women’s Tennis Team made the long trip to play district powerhouse, Klamath Union they knew they would be playing shorthanded and many players were forced to play out of position. Both Lisa Li and Anais Fang, normally double players, took on strong opponents in the 3 and 4 single spots and their inexperience was too much to overcome despite great efforts. The 1 and 2 single spots were both won by Crusaders; Alicia Lu winning in straight sets at number one and Eve VanStrahl winning in the two spot. It was the second victory of the season for both players. The double teams were shut out, but the duo of Zoe Alftine and Susanna Schatz fought back from a large deficit early in the match to be within one shot of forcing a tie-breaker. The other double teams were Megan Nelson with TaylorRose Tavares and Chloe Xi partnered with Jenny Nguyen. The squad will not have time to rest as they travel to play a tough Ashland team on Tuesday.
