Meet Recap

In the two weeks since St. Mary’s last played Ashland the young Crusaders have won two matches and have been showing great improvement. In Tuesday’s rematch the St. Mary’s women continued to improve but could still not best a strong Ashland squad. Individually, each member of St. Mary’s team played closer matches than they had the first time the two teams met.

After just falling short in two previous tie-breakers, Leah Sternenberg broke through with a tie-breaker victory. This was Sternenberg’s second victory in her last two matches. Jenny Nguyen won her third consecutive victory since switching from doubles to singles with a 6-4 6-1 win. In those three victories Nguyen has a margin of 18-1 in the second set.

The Lady Crusaders have played fie matches against upper division squads and will travel to Grants Pass on Thursday and they hope that the challenging schedule will prepare them for their own District Championship that is just over two weeks away.
