Game Recap

At U.S. Cellular Field, the #4 St. Mary’s girls battled #5 Pleasant Hill through 80 minutes of regulation and 20 additional minutes of overtime with neither team able to score a goal in a well played state quarterfinal match-up. The Crusaders outshot the Billies 10 to 8 and had six corners. They gave up no corner kicks to Pleasant Hill. Sophomores Gabi Castillo, Grace Weber and Maddie Wheelock each converted PKs for the Crusaders. Goalkeeper Adrien Birmingham made two saves on Pleasant Hill’s first five shooters. Maddison Fisher, Allisa Kobe and Amanda Whetten converted for the Billies in the first shoot out. In sudden death, junior Kari Robbins scored on her attempt to put the guests by one and up giving Pleasant Hill a 1 – 0 win. The Crusaders end their season with an 11 and 4 overall record, an 8 and 0 league record and their ninth consecutive conference championship.
