Game Recap

At Lakeview, the St. Mary’s girls battled a determined defensive Lakeview team earning a character building 1 – 0 victory. The Crusaders out shot the Honkers 17 to 3 and produced 6 corner kicks to 0. Senior Anna Peterson played a perfect pass to sophomore Gabi Castillo in the eighth minute of the first half which Castillo put into the back of the net. Lakeview built their game plan around their small field and quick players by sitting back and using heavy defensive numbers making it difficult for the Crusader attackers to penetrate into the attacking third. Frustrated at moments, the girls adjusted well and created numerous scoring opportunities and were a little unlucky a couple more shots didn’t go in. Overall, it was a new kind of test for the players. They handled it well and will grow from it.

Next up for the Crusaders is Cascade Christian on Saturday at 10:00 AM at US Cellular Field.
