Game Recap

At USCCP the St. Mary’s Crusaders completed the season sweep against the Cascade Christian Challengers 3 – 1. St. Mary’s opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a strong shot 20 yards out by junior foeward Maddie Wheelock off a perfectly timed pass by senior midfielder Sara Klott. Cascade Christian answered in the 16th minute. In the 24th minute junior forward Gabi Castillo netted a header goal off a corner kick by Sara Klott. In the second half, with a quality possession game, St. Mary’s took the momentum and the Crusaders put in their third and final goal when Maddie Wheelock cut through several Challenger defenders and slotted a high shot past the Challenger goalkeeper.

Adrien Birmingham went the distance in goal and played a key role in the Crusaders victory.

Next up for the Crusaders is 3A State Champion and top ranked Oregon Episcopal out of Portland who are undefeated in the 2017 campaign. Match time is 10:00 a.m. Saturday at USCCP.
