Game Recap

The Rogue River Chieftains hosted the St. Mary’s Crusaders at Beck Field in the final league game for both teams. The Crusaders showed a lot of composure this game which translated to a quality game. Sophomore Preston Jernigan scored three minutes into the game by taking the ball wide and sent a hard shot right through the goalkeepers hands. The next goal came with six minutes left in the first half when Sophomore Max Lewis dropped the ball to Preston Jernigan who saw an opportunity and shot from outside the eighteen yard box. PJ got to watch as the ball sailed into the back of net. Three minutes remaining in the first half, Sophomore Ryan Pitcher picked the ball from a Chieftain defender and made quick work by putting a beautiful ball to far post, making the score 3-0. The final goal came in the last minute of the first half. Junior Roman Bobek threw in an excellent ball to Junior Weston Grant who volleyed the ball, with a quick turn to goal and sent a hard shot into the net for the final goal of the game. The second half St Marys saw a lot of opportunities but nothing changed the scoreboard. Sophomore Brenden Borovansky was the starting keeper in the first half, having 1 save. Senior Ryan Trask played keeper the second half adding 4 saves to his collection.
The Crusaders are now District 5 champions and will play again on November 2nd for the first round of playoffs.
