On Friday April 14th, the St. Mary’s football program hosted 150 kids, ages seven to twelve, to a free football camp through Medford Parks and Recreation.  Crusader coaches and players ran the young athletes through calisthenics, as well as offensive and defensive drill work.  On offense, campers learned the fundamentals of blocking, ball carrying, throwing, and catching.  On defense, players were coached on how to come to balance in the open field, take correct pursuit angles, and defend off blocks.  Head Coach, Jamie Young, had this to say about the camp, “Our athletes and coaches love giving back to our community.  Any chance we get to show off the type of program we run at St. Mary’s, we are going to take full advantage.”

The Crusader football program kicks off their 2017 campaign in just over a month when Spring Football begins on the campus of St. Mary’s school.  The Crusaders are coming off their first trip to the OSAA playoffs in 22 years and look to build on to that momentum.
