South High School – Sophomores Emma Bennion, Katie Rietmannn, and Tess McGill led the way for the St. Mary’s Track and Field teams at the annual Bob Newland Freshman/Sophomore meet held at South Medford High School on Friday.  Bennion continued her outstanding season with the team’s lone individual win in the 300 Hurdles.  In the field, Rietmann posted a 2nd place finish with a throw of 36′ 1 1/4″ and a 4th place finish in the discus with a throw of 96’3″, both personal bests.  Tess McGill had a season best jump of 31′ 5.5″ in the triple jump for a 4th place finish and a personal best jump of 15′ 2″ in the long jump, good enough for 8th place overall.

The high school Track and Field teams will see split action next week at the Yreka Lions Invitational on Friday, April 28th in Yreka, CA and Saturday, April 29th at the Grants Pass Rotary Meet at Grants Pass High School.
