MS Track and Field Start Season With Strong Showing

The MS Track and Field teams competed in their first meet of the season on Wednesday, April 5th at Spiegleberg Stadium. After two weeks of practice and then two weeks off for spring break the teams had a very strong showing.

On the girls side individual event winners included Lila Reed (400) and Ryker Rothfus (High Jump). Other top 3 finishers were: Kelsey Dunn (Discus – 3rd), Mackenzie Walker (100,200 – 3rd), Carson Palmer (3000 – 2nd), Paige Gutches (800 – 2nd), 4×100 Relay (O. Lippert, A. Dunn, M. Castillo, Rothfus – 2nd), SMR (Kirkpatrick, Jensen, Meyer, Gutches – 3rd).

The boys dominated the sprints with the following individual winners: Matthew Wyant (100 hurdles), Nathan Sternenberg (100, 200), Sprint Medley Relay (Beck, K. Walker, Kranenburg, Wyant). The sprints also included top 3 placements by Will Heycke (100 – 2nd, 200 – 3rd), 4×100 Relay (Parrish, Sternenberg, Haynes, Heycke – 2nd). In the distance events top 3 finishers included: Owen Gramley (1500 – 2nd) and Logan Diaz-McNeal (1500 – 3rd). Will Heycke topped his day off with an individual win in the discus with a throw of 99′ 2″.

The Track and Field team will next be in action on Wednesday, April 12th at Hosanna Christian in Klamath Falls.
