MS Runners Compete at Meet of Champions

Corvallis – St. Mary’s qualified five runners for this years Middle School Meet of Champions and as one of the smallest schools represented held their own against a very competitive and deep field of talent.

The day started off with the boys 4×100 relay team of Matthew Wyant, Lance Parrish, Will Heycke, and Nathan Sternenberg finishing in the top half of the teams (15th) and besting their previous school record in the event by almost a second, turning in a time of 48.55. Sternenberg had the best individual showing of the day with a 15th place finish in the 200m with a time of 25.16.

On the girls side Jensyn Ford ran well in the 200m posting a personal best time of 28.33 and finishing 31st out of 62 runners, but the highlight of her day came in the 400m event when she ran a personal best in the last race of her middle school career in a time of 1:04.06, putting her second on the all-time list for middle school.
